EXPERIENCED TEAM

With almost 200 people (permanent staff) working for the company and another 50 to 200 local contract staff, Shipyard de Hoop knows how important it is to have an experienced team in place. Over the years the team has been carefully assembled from individuals who have a wealth of experience in the shipbuilding industry, from the board of directors and managers to support staff and trades people. Personal attention and custom solutions for each individual client is of paramount importance.

Shipyard De Hoop is privately owned by one (100%) shareholder. The shipyard’s capitalisation includes no long-term debt and has a strong balance sheet, which is considered to be financially very sound.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Patrick Janssens – Chief Executive Officer
Patrick joined Shipyard De Hoop in 2004. He holds a master’s degree in International Business Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering. He has a wealth of experience in managing international shipyards and took over De Hoop in a management buy-out in 2007.

Fré Drenth – Technical Director
Fré is a time served Technical Director and Naval Architect with an impressive track record in Marine Engineering and Ship Design. After graduating in 1987 with a PhD in Naval Architecture, he joined the shipyard in 1991. At De Hoop he is responsible for all the technical design and engineering activities.

 

 

Johan Fasel – Director of Operations
Johan joined the team in 1995 after achieving a Bachelor’s degree in Technology in 1992. He has over 20 years experience in shipbuilding project management as well as shipyard development and management of yard operations. He oversees all operational and tactical affairs at both the shipyards.

Erik van Wolfswinkel – Chief Financial Officer
Erik is a seasoned professional in the field of business services (Finance, Contracting, Procurement, IT, HR etc) in the Offshore and Onshore business for approx. 20 years, after starting up his career in financial auditing (Ernst & Young). Contributing to various key projects in the industry while living in several countries. Holding a master degree in economics / financial auditing / information management, graduated at NIVRA / Nyenrode University.

Pieter Visser – Senior Project Engineer
Pieter, who has been in the industry since 1987, joined De Hoop in 2010. He holds a PhD in Business Administration and Naval Architecture and Installations, and is an experienced engineer in the developing of specifications and shipbuilding estimates. Together with his senior colleagues he is responsible for overseeing project estimating and -engineering.

Henk Beens – Senior Project Engineer
Henk has been at de Hoop since 1998 and is one of the people who have responsibility for the project engineering. Prior to joining the company he had spent 26 years in engineering marine installations and project estimating. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and Installations.

 

Rick Tempelman – Project Engineer
Rick is an experienced team member leading all ship-building aspects of the engineering process at the of all shipyards’ projects. He holds a doctorate in Naval Architecture and Engineering. Rick has gained experience in engineering departments at other shipyards since 2002 and joined De Hoop in 2005.

Ralf den Ouden – Production Manager
Ralf is a qualified Naval Architect who, after graduating from Delft Technical College, spent eight years gaining experience in project management of building and outfitting offshore vessels before joining De Hoop in 2012. Ralf is now a key project manager in the Lobith shipyard.

Jacob de Vries – Planning & Operations Manager
Since his graduation in Shipbuilding & Production Management, Jacob has spent the majority of his time in project planning and work preparation at a variety of shipyards, before he was employed by De Hoop. With 20 years of experience, he joined the De Hoop Foxhol Team in 2007. In his role as Planning & Operations Manager he is responsible for the planning and logistics at the Lobith and Foxhol facility.

Menne Osinga – Project Engineer Machinery
Menne’s previous experience includes over 28 years in build management and commissioning of engine rooms and cargo handling installations. He studied at the Technical Secondary School for Mechanical Engineering and joined De Hoop in 2008. Responsible for the overall project management of all Foxhol projects, this impressive background is a valuable asset to De Hoop.

 

Thijs Toren – Production Manager
Thijs joined De Hoop in 2007 bringing with him a valuable mixture of practical knowledge and management experience in new building and shipbuilding processes to his role overseeing the smooth running of the production facilities in Foxhol. He graduated in 1988 with a BSc in Naval Architecture and complimented that with advanced level training courses for Production Management.

PROCUREMENT, ADMINISTRATION & MARKETING

Ate de Vries – Purchasing Manager
Ate has been active in the industry since 1982 and with De Hoop for the last 13 years. He has a degree in Purchasing and brings along a wealth of experience in procurement, especially in shipyards. Ate ensures production can run smooth, by arranging timely delivery of all required components.

 

Els Mulder – General & Wages Administration, Accounting /
Bookkeeping
Els has an impressive record of experience at De Hoop and she has held down a multitude of administrative positions within the company. Like many of other colleagues at De Hoop, she has worked her way up through the ranks to head the general administration, with a specialisation in accounting / bookkeeping.
